Buying an Off the Peg Wedding Dress
All of the wedding dresses here are Off the Peg pieces from our boutique rail. They’re genuine designer samples that have only been tried on in the shop.
Because each dress is a one-off, once it’s gone, it’s gone.
We list dresses using UK High Street sizing rather than bridal label sizing, as bridal sizes can be confusing.
A wedding dress can normally be taken down by up to two sizes, but it can’t be made bigger, so the starting size matters.
Still not sure? Just drop us a message — we’re always happy to talk it through.
Before you say yes to an Off the Peg wedding dress
Buying an Off the Peg wedding dress can be a brilliant option if you want a designer dress for less, need something on a shorter timeline, or simply fall in love with the one on the rail.
There are just a few useful things to know first.
-
Wedding dress sizing is very different to high street sizing, and no one cares what number is on the label.
To make things simpler, we’ve converted all of our bridal sizes into UK high street sizes. If you’d like to get a rough idea of where you might sit, take a look at our size chart.
What matters most, though, is how the dress fits, how it feels, and whether it can be altered beautifully for you.
-
In general, an Off the Peg wedding dress can usually be altered down by around 1–2 sizes, depending on the style and structure.
Letting a dress out is much more limited, sometimes not possible at all, and is something we would generally advise against.
-
Even if a dress fits well, most brides will still need alterations, to acheive the perfect ’it was made for me’ look.
This might be taking up the hem, adjusting straps, refining the bodice, or adding a bustle.
Alterations are an extra cost, so it is always worth allowing for that in your budget.
We recommend budgeting £300-£400

All of our Off the Peg wedding dresses are boutique samples and are bought in their current condition. Before leaving with your dress, you will need to inspect it carefully and make sure you are happy with the fit, condition, and any visible signs of wear.

-
There is only one of each Off the Peg dress.
If it sells, it is gone for good, so if you have found the one, it is worth knowing that it cannot be reordered in the same way as a Made to Order dress.
